Come explore, connect with nature and have fun this February half term at Northbrook Park Wetlands!


  • Join us for a mix of drop-in and scheduled activities throughout the day. Perfect for families and nature lovers of all ages.
  • This free and accessible community event is hosted by Thames21 with special guests.
  • Please register here in advance to help us prepare materials.

What's on?

10.00 - 12.00 Drop in Let's go Winter Pond Dipping - discover the secret world beneath the water (Recommended enjoyment age: 3+ years)

Co-hosted with Emily, Amphibian expert & Glendale's Nature Conservation Officer

  • Join us by the ponds for a hands-on pond dipping experience
  • Discover the fascinating creatures that call our wetlands home


11.00 - 14.00 Drop in Winter Wetland-themed activities (all ages):

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Scavenger Hunt


12.00-14.00 Building with Nature - learn how to make a dead hedge

  • Creating a beautiful wildlife-friendly barrier made from natural materials (Hazel trees)
  • We'll build the feature with Northbrook Park Wetlands volunteers
  • An activity suitable for all ages and abilities.


Meeting point:

Enter Northbrook Park from Baring Road and follow the path to the far end of the park away from the playground. The wetlands entrance is next to the MUGA/Basketball area, diagonally opposite the playground.


What to Bring:

  • Dress for the weather
  • Long trousers and sleeves are advisable as there are nettles and brambles in the area.
  • Your reusable water bottle


Facilities: There are no toilets in the park so please plan ahead.

Nearest community toilets: Cafe Lokum (52 Baring Road) and at the Ringway Centre (268 Baring Road).


Accessibility:

The spaces around the ponds are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us with any questions about accessibility - we'll do our best to make this event welcoming for all.
