The course is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise the signs of someone experiencing poor mental health, start a supportive conversation and signpost them towards appropriate support. It also helps participants develop their own understanding of mental health, challenge stigma and contribute to creating healthier, more supportive environments.
Participants will learn how to:
Explain what mental health is
Recognise signs of possible poor mental health
Understand some of the risk factors associated with poor mental health
Look after their own mental health and wellbeing
Apply the ALGEE Mental Health First Aid action plan in a supportive conversation
Understand the role and responsibilities of an MHFAider
Each participant receives:
Digital MHFAider certificate
Digital manual
Workbook with key information, note-taking space and practical tips
Wallet-sized MHFA action plan reference card
Three years' access to the MHFAider Support App
Membership of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders, including access to ongoing resources, learning, webinars, events and research
The membership also provides access to resources such as the Hub of Hope signposting database, wellbeing tools, conversation journalling and 24/7 text support through Shout.
To receive the qualification, attendees need to attend all four sessions. Please only sign up if you are able to commit to all four sessions, otherwise your deposit may not be refunded.
