This role is part-funded through the Green Careers Pathway programme and Welsh Government Flexible Skills Funding, creating opportunities for young people to gain employment and build careers in the growing green sector.

To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must be aged 18-30 at the time of appointment, in line with programme funding requirements. We particularly encourage applications from young people who identify as having a disability or long-term health condition and/or those from globally diverse backgrounds, as these groups are currently underrepresented within the sector.

All appointments will be made on merit and in line with equal opportunities and relevant employment legislation.

• Salary: £15 per hour

• Hours: 3 days per week - flexible

• Location: Ideally Swansea or Neath Port Talbot based

• Working: Partly home based, with travel to meetings, schools, events and partner sites

• Driving: Applicants must be able to drive

The opportunity

We're looking for someone to join our small team and help us keep a growing number of

projects, partnerships and day-to-day activities moving.

For us, attitude matters more than having the perfect CV.

Some knowledge of sustainability would be useful, but it isn't essential. We can teach

the subject. What we're really looking for is someone who is organised, comfortable with

people and technology, happy to get stuck in, and interested in learning as they go.

It's a varied role. One day might involve adapting a proposal for a business or local

authority, the next could be helping organise a school project, arranging meetings,

supporting a workshop or joining us at a partner site.

What you'll be doing

• Adapting proposals, presentations and other documents for different clients and partners

• Helping manage diaries, meetings, appointments and project deadlines

• Keeping in touch with schools, businesses, local authorities and project partners

• Helping organise workshops, events and education projects

• Supporting our Bee1, biodiversity and Our Classroom Climate activities

• Keeping project information and basic administration organised

• Helping with communications and social media when needed

• Coming along to meetings, schools, events and partner sites

• Generally helping wherever needed - we're a small team, so no two weeks are exactly the same

What we're looking for

You don't need to come from a sustainability background. We'd rather find the right

person and help them develop.

• A positive, reliable attitude and a willingness to get involved

• Good everyday IT skills, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Canva, email, adapting proposals and diary management

• Good organisation and the ability to keep track of several things at once

• Confidence communicating with different people

• Common sense and the ability to use your own initiative

• An interest in sustainability, biodiversity, education or community projects - useful, but not essential

• A willingness to learn

• Must be able to drive

Why the role is a little different

This is a chance to learn by actually doing the work. OSA works across business,

education, local government, housing, sport, universities and other organisations, so

you'll get exposure to people and projects that would be difficult to experience in a

more conventional role.

There is plenty of scope to learn, take on more responsibility and shape the role around

your strengths. Support and training will be provided - we don't expect someone to

arrive knowing everything.

Hours and flexibility

The role is three days per week at £15 per hour, with plenty of flexibility around working

days and hours. We are more interested in finding the right person than forcing the role

into a rigid working pattern.

The position will involve a mixture of home working and attending meetings, events,

schools and project locations. For practical reasons, we would ideally like someone

based in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot or the surrounding area.

As the role involves visiting different project and partner locations, applicants must be

able to drive.

Contribute to the Green Careers Youth Board through monthly online and quarterly in-person meetings, supporting youth-led Green Careers campaigns and ensuring young people's voices help shape the project.
