Description

Welcome to London Rivers Week! This special occasion is dedicated to honoring London's rivers and recognizing London as a river city. Join us in celebrating the wonderful aspects of our rivers, from their contributions to health and well-being to their role in cultural activities. Let's embrace this opportunity to highlight the importance of rivers and all they bring to our city.

We will be doing restoration work on the River Roding in Wanstead Park. Restoration work will include tackling invasive non-native species, specifically Himalayan balsam. Himalayan balsam out-competes other species for space, light, nutrients and pollinators thereby reducing native biodiversity along the river bank.

For this activity you can chose to be in the river with waders and a life jacket or pluck balsam from the bank, but both of these require a degree of fitness and mobility. All PPE & equipment that is needed for this activity will be provided.

We are meeting by the river - Google maps link and W3W - chips.volume.magma - at 10AM and finishing up at 2PM.

This is an event designed for the community, to engage the local public with the river and not for corporates. If you are interested in a bespoke corporate volunteer day, please visit our website
