Description

Aim

To review and strengthen EMVA’s purpose and partnership principles, draw out learning from its work to date, and agree a realistic development pathway towards a potential BCVS-led Solidarity Fund application.

Objectives

By the end of the session, partners should have:

  1. Reviewed EMVA’s purpose, principles and experience to date, including what has worked, where funding activity has been successful or unsuccessful and what the partnership has learned.
  2. Developed a shared understanding of the Solidarity Fund and tested EMVA’s current position against its core expectations, including community power, systems change, solidarity, lived-experience leadership and shared learning.
  3. Identified the strongest foundations for a future proposition, including the communities and inequalities concerned, the systems the partnership may seek to influence, existing evidence and examples of effective joint work.
  4. Agreed a practical development pathway for a potential BCVS-led application, including the role of a core partnership, partner contributions and responsibilities, evidence and capability gaps, and the further developmental work required.

Intended outputs

·        Refreshed EMVA purpose and partnership principles.

·        A concise account of learning from EMVA’s work and funding activity to date.

·        An initial assessment of readiness against the Solidarity Fund criteria.

·        Initial identification of the strongest communities, inequalities and systems-change themes.

·        A provisional core partnership and development pathway.

·        Agreed actions, responsibilities and next steps.
