Description

Are you experiencing stress, low mood and/or anxiety? Or would you just like a chance to pause and slow down for a mo? Did you know that Forest Bathing ('Shinrin-yoko’), the practice of spending time taking in the atmosphere of the forest, can lead to better health, happiness and a sense of calm?

Join our guide from Through the Trees CIC for a slow, mindful walk, inspired by Forest Bathing, to explore nature connection through the senses and experience the healing power of the natural environment. Research links forest bathing with numerous mental and physical benefits such as reducing stress and blood pressure, improving sleep, boosting mood and memory and enhancing immune response.

Your guide, Kirstie, begins the experience by sharing information about what forest bathing is, it’s origins and the benefits for our physical and mental health. Along the route, Kirstie uses breathwork, mindfulness and offers various invitations. These are suggestions to give us opportunities to slow down, be present, help engage our senses and deepen our connection with ourselves, each other and the natural world around us! During the experience there are moments of silence and moments when we gather in circle to share and listen. Finally, we end with a tea gathering - a way to integrate our forest bathing experience into the body and try foraged tea, snacks, cake and share the experience.

This event is funded by Forestry England as part of their 'Feel good in the Forest' project which is aimed at improving physical and mental health.
