Celebrate International Women’s Day with Hackney CVS on Friday 7 March from 11am to 2pm, followed by a lunch and reception. This vibrant event will feature inspiring speakers, poetry, interactive discussions, and a special performance by African female drummers, 'Red, Green and Black'. We welcome our male allies to this event to join in the activities and celebrate with us.

As part of the celebration, we are also hosting an IWD exhibition in the conference room from 1 March and we invite to loan us any posters, photos, books, or artwork that celebrates women. Please feel free to contact Hackney CVS Reception on reception@hcvs.org.uk with any queries.

The theme of this year’s IWD is Accelerate Action. Individuals and organisations who attended last year’s event contributed their ideas on the change they want to see. These were distilled into a 5-point pledge.

The 5-point pledge:

• For women to be appreciated, spoken to and respected just the same as male counterparts.
• To empower the future generation of women to speak out.
• Support women in having a stronger voice by actively listening.
• To be open to women-centred system change, influenced by women.
• To speak out when you see injustice.

We would like organisations and community groups to sign up and commit to the pledge to be an Ally in the Workplace.

At this year’s event, we look forward to discussing how Hackney CVS can support you in your work towards the pledge, and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion more broadly.

The event will conclude with a hot Caribbean lunch at 2pm, accompanied by drumming and dancing. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available.
