Description

Join us for a morning at the head office of Bute Energy where we will learn about their business and the different roles they offer. After which we will hop on a minibus which will take us over to Viridor Energy Recovery Facility for an afternoon tour of their plant.

Bute Energy is a private company that develops onshore wind and solar energy parks in Wales, aiming to support the transition to net-zero.

Headquartered in Wales, Bute Energy are on a mission to decarbonise our energy system to create a wealthier, healthier nation. Their people are their most valuable asset and they are proud to have attracted a passionate and talented pool of staff who are dedicated to their work and offer wider, transferable skills. They bring expertise in planning, construction, project management, education, social mobility, engineering and operational phases of energy parks across the UK.

While Bute Energy generate energy through wind and solar, Viridor generates energy from items destined for landfill.

Viridor's Cardiff Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is the largest ERF in Wales treating waste from the local authority and local business contracts. It diverts at least 95% of South Wales’ residual waste away from landfill and generates 266MWh of electricity for the National Grid. That is enough to power around 98,820 households.

At the end of the visit, the minibus will return everyone to Cardiff city centre.
