At Castell Howell Foods, we recognise the profound impact our industry has on the planet and are committed to being a catalyst for positive change. Our unwavering dedication to sustainability goes beyond a mere trend – it's a fundamental responsibility that drives our actions and decisions. This dedication can be summed up in the following 4 pillars, which form the foundation to our daily sustainable practices:1. Responsible Sourcing: Cultivating a Chain of GoodnessWe understand that the journey of food begins long before it reaches our tables. That's why we prioritise responsible sourcing practices that ensure the wellbeing of ecosystems, farmers, and communities. From supporting local producers to promoting ethical farming methods, we seek to minimise our environmental footprint and promote fairness throughout the supply chain. By championing sustainable agriculture and fisheries, we contribute to the health of our planet and the prosperity of those who depend on it.2. Reducing Food Waste: Maximising Potential, Minimising ImpactOne of the most significant challenges facing the food industry is the staggering amount of food that goes to waste. We are resolute in our commitment to reducing food waste at every stage of our operations. Through careful inventory management, innovative packaging solutions, and partnerships with food banks, we strive to ensure that every ounce of food produced is maximised to its fullest potential. By minimising waste, we not only conserve resources but also make a positive impact on hunger relief efforts in our communities.3. Innovative Distribution: Streamlining Efficiency, Lowering EmissionsDistribution is a critical aspect of the food industry that demands innovative solutions for sustainability. Our logistics strategies focus on optimising routes, minimising fuel consumption, and reducing emissions. By investing in modern transportation technologies and practices, we aim to enhance efficiency while contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment. Our commitment to sustainable distribution reflects our dedication to meeting the needs of today without compromising the needs of tomorrow.4. Educating and Empowering: Inspiring Change Beyond Our WallsSustainability is a collective effort that extends beyond our organisation. We believe in the power of education and collaboration to drive change across the food industry and beyond. We actively engage with our partners, customers, and communities to raise awareness about sustainable practices and encourage responsible consumption. By sharing knowledge, promoting mindful choices, and inspiring others to join the journey toward sustainability, we amplify our impact and create a ripple effect of positive change. The visit will include:Tea/coffee on arrivalOverview of the businessPresentation on the careers available and an opportunity to meet with a variety of staffA tour of the depotTravel arrangements will be made for you via your Green Careers Work Coach or Placement Facilitator.
