Celtic&nbsp;Manor&nbsp;Resort&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;luxurious&nbsp;5star&nbsp;hotel&nbsp;and&nbsp;leisure&nbsp;destination&nbsp;located&nbsp;in&nbsp;Newport,&nbsp;set&nbsp;within&nbsp;2,000&nbsp;acres&nbsp;of&nbsp;stunning&nbsp;parkland.<h3> </h3><h3>Overview</h3>Celtic&nbsp;Manor&nbsp;Resort&nbsp;is&nbsp;renowned&nbsp;for&nbsp;its&nbsp;world-class&nbsp;amenities,&nbsp;including&nbsp;three&nbsp;championship&nbsp;golf&nbsp;courses,&nbsp;a&nbsp;luxurious&nbsp;spa,&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;variety&nbsp;of&nbsp;dining&nbsp;options.&nbsp;The&nbsp;resort&nbsp;features&nbsp;multiple&nbsp;accommodations,&nbsp;including&nbsp;a&nbsp;historic&nbsp;manor&nbsp;house,&nbsp;luxury&nbsp;lodges,&nbsp;and&nbsp;family friendly&nbsp;rooms,&nbsp;making&nbsp;it&nbsp;suitable&nbsp;for&nbsp;both&nbsp;leisure&nbsp;and&nbsp;business&nbsp;travelers.&nbsp;It&nbsp;is&nbsp;particularly&nbsp;famous&nbsp;for&nbsp;hosting&nbsp;the&nbsp;2010&nbsp;Ryder&nbsp;Cup,&nbsp;a&nbsp;prestigious&nbsp;golf&nbsp;tournament,&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;2014&nbsp;NATO&nbsp;summit. Dates available are: 13 July - 24 July, 27 July - 7 August and 10 August - 21 August. During your two week placement you will rotate through key operational areas of the Estates department to gain a broad, hands‑on understanding of how the resort environment is maintained and developed. The placement will include time within Gardens, Greenkeeping, Irrigation and Special Projects, and the Estates Workshop, allowing you to observe and support day-to-day activities while working alongside experienced team members. Across all areas, there will be a strong focus on health and safety, teamwork, planning, and the impact Estates operations have on guest experience across the resort. GardensParticipants will gain insight into how the gardens and landscaped areas across the resort are maintained to a high standard. Activities may include supporting routine grounds maintenance, carrying out morning checks, assisting with planting, pruning and seasonal tasks, safely using basic horticultural equipment, and understanding how presentation, safety and guest experience influence daily priorities. GreenkeepingThis rotation will introduce participants to the work involved in preparing and maintaining golf courses to a high standard of play and presentation. Activities may include observing daily course set‑up, assisting with mowing and course maintenance tasks, learning about the impact of weather and play on course condition, understanding machinery used in greenkeeping, and seeing how teams plan work to minimise disruption to golfers while maintaining course quality. Irrigation and Special ProjectsThis rotation will introduce participants to the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems and the delivery of special projects across the resort. You will observe irrigation checks and repairs, assist with grounds and woodland tasks, support the use of specialist equipment, and learn how larger projects are planned and delivered safely while minimising disruption to guests and operations. Estates WorkshopParticipants will spend time in the Estates Workshop to understand how plant, machinery and equipment are maintained and repaired to support the wider Estates operation. This may include observing machinery servicing and breakdowns, learning about safe workshop practices, assisting with basic equipment checks, and understanding how workshop teams respond to operational demands across the resort. Celtic Manor Resort are opening their doors to provide a tour of their business and an opportunity to meet staff who work in the different areas of the business. Starting in the ICCW (International Convention Centre Wales) We will learn about The Celtic Collection’s Green Agenda. We will then have a tour of the grounds with the Estates Team and learn about their environmental and sustainability agenda. We will see the resorts wildflower planting, digester, bird boxes, bee hives (if appropriate) and on-site reservoir for watering. The tour will end in the Hotel where we will have a light lunch and learn about Sustainable Purchasing. Timings. Arrival at resort 10am, the tour will conclude at 3pm A minibus will be provided from Newport Train Station and back.

Network Rai have prepared a different style of work experience which they will be offering 29th June – 3rd July (9am – 3pm each day). It will include insights and activities into different business areas within Network Rail, and some employability workshops to support you buil confidence and identify transferable skills and traits.&nbsp;This is planned to take place in Cardiff (next to Central station) but there will be trips out to Taffs Well, Canton and Newport too to visit particular sites.&nbsp;There are just 4 spaces available.
