<h2>Overview</h2> You are invited to visit KLA's UK manufacturing and research &amp; development sites to learn about the careers available. Join us for a Behind the Scenes visit to KLA UK, part of a global company dedicated to developing and manufacturing high-tech equipment used in manufacturing of semiconductor chips around the world. With annual revenues of over US$10billion, and around 15,000 worldwide employees (over 600 in Newport), KLA is one of the Top 5 biggest semiconductor equipment manufacturers in the world. Products made here in Newport are exported throughout North America, Asia and Europe.The Visit will take place at both of the Newport sites:&nbsp;starting at Ringland Way, NP18 2TA&nbsp;and visiting Celtic Way, Celtic Lakes NP10 8BE. During the day, you will meet employees in a range of different jobs, finding out what they do and how their own career paths developed. You will learn about career entry points including apprenticeship and graduate opportunities, and will be given a tour of the plant. (Not all of the tour will be accessible by wheelchair users, but we would ask you not to be put off by this as it only forms a small part of the day.) The day will run from 10:00 – 3:00pm with lunch kindly provided by KLA. Attendees will need to&nbsp;arrive at 9:30&nbsp;for a prompt 10am start. A minibus pickup from a location in Newport City Centre to the KLA sites will be organised. Places are limited and need to be booked in advance. Join us for a Behind the Scenes visit to the Boots flagship store in Cardiff. Boots is the UK’s leading health and beauty retailer with over 1800 stores (90 stores in Wales) an employs 1800 colleagues. Their mission is to care for people, customers and communities everywhere. Boots first started in 1849 when John Boot opened up a local herbalist store in Nottingham. Over the years Boots has continued to grow and evolve with their retail stores, pharmacies, optician and hearing care centres. Boots has a real unique place in the heart of the communities it serves across the UK. As well a great history, they are always looking to the future and implementing new services and technologies i.e. robots in our Stores Support Centre, testing drones for deliveries, online doctor and pushing boundaries in beauty science. The morning will run from 10:00 – 12:30pm with light refreshments (hot drink and biscuits.) Attendees will hear an overview of Boots and how they operate, meet colleagues from a number of different departments to hear about their roles, learn about pathways to employment, hear about the application process and take part in a tour of the store. You will see the port in action, meet colleagues who keep operations moving, and gain a view beyond the port boundaries. The tour will show how steel arrives, moves through the port, and supports industry across the UK. You will also learn about the various roles and skills that are needed to ensure the port runs smoothly, as well as have information about the application process. About ABPAssociated British Ports (ABP) is the UK’s leading port operator. It supports supply chains across the country through 21 ports, including Newport. Its ports handle a wide range of goods, from steel and renewables to containers and agribulk. This work helps keep UK industry moving and supports jobs in local communities.
