This session is for local authority and NHS staff interested in strengthening their approach to conducting equality impact assessments.

Learning outcomes:

• The purpose and overview process of equality impact assessment.

• What makes an EqIA inclusive? Beyond protected characteristics, considering intersectionality, lived experiences, and accessibility.

• Recognising and avoiding common pitfalls.

• Effectively engaging stakeholders: Best practices for involving affected communities, other external stakeholders, staff networks and wider staff groups

• A practical walkthrough of an EqIA.

• Embedding inclusive EqIAs into organisational culture.

• Encouraging proactive rather than reactive assessments.


The session will be fully interactive, including large and small group work, case studies (real and hypothetical) and informal role-play.
