Apprentice Plumber – Torfaen
We’re excited to offer a full-time Apprentice Plumber opportunity with our Torfaen Repairs Team, starting September 2026.
This is a brilliant opportunity to start your career from the ground up. You don’t need lots of experience — just motivation, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
What’s great about the role?
You’ll learn on the job alongside experienced trades colleagues, gaining real, hands-on skills while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
From day one, you’ll be helping to repair and maintain people’s homes — making a genuine difference to our customers’ lives. We’ll support you every step of the way, giving you the skills and confidence to build a long-term career in the trade.
Where does this role fit in?
This apprenticeship will give you broad experience across our repairs service, including both reactive repairs and planned maintenance.
At Codi, our trades colleagues work as multi-skilled engineers, so alongside plumbing you’ll begin to learn other trade skills over time.
You’ll learn:
-How to provide a responsive repairs service in customers’ homes
-Core plumbing skills alongside exposure to multi-skilled work, which may include elements of carpentry and other associated trades
-How planned maintenance works, spending time with our planned works team as well as the repairs team
-What it means to develop towards working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, while building your plumbing trade
You’ll be supported by experienced trades colleagues who will help you learn safely, confidently, and at the right pace on the job.
Location & getting around – important to know
-This role is based from our Cwmbran Trades Office
-The office is not on a main bus route, so you’ll need to be able to reliably get to and from Cwmbran each working day
-From the office, you’ll travel to customers’ homes across our local housing stock
What you’ll need
-Aged 16+
-Willingness to commit to a 4-year apprenticeship programme
-Basic maths and English skills (you don’t need perfect grades)
-A positive attitude and willingness to learn across plumbing and multi-skilled tasks
-You may be required by the college to complete an entry assessment as part of the enrolment process.
Your apprenticeship: Building Services Engineering – Plumbing & Heating
-1 day per week in college (09:00–19:30)
-College delivery will be with either Coleg Gwent or Coleg y Cymoedd, depending on course availability
-A mix of coursework, online learning, and practical assessments
-Hands-on experience in the workplace
-A structured 4-year programme developing your skills and knowledge
Important to know:
This apprenticeship is aimed at individuals at the beginning of their plumbing career.
If you already hold a Level 2 qualification (or higher) in Plumbing or have significant industry experience, this apprenticeship is unlikely to be suitable.
If you are currently in your first year of college studying Plumbing, we’re happy to consider an earlier start date, ahead of the main September 2026 intake, where this can be agreed.
