Volunteer with Thames21 to bring the newly excavated wetlands in Friary Park to life!
This 4-cell wetland has been designed to store floodwaters and naturally treat water flowing in from Blackett’s Brook. The wetland vegetation plays a crucial role in removing excess nutrients and breaking down pollutants, while also creating a vibrant habitat for wildlife and enhancing the park’s natural beauty.
We need your help to plant 1,300 plug plants on the wetland cell banks with easy-to-use tools. These plants will help purify the water, stabilise the banks and create a biodiverse landscape.
No experience is needed – all training and guidance will be provided. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and meet others in your community.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing and bring food and water for yourself. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
We will meet by the wetland cells on the west side of the park at 9:30am. If you can't commit to the whole day, please do still come along to help out!
We look forward to seeing you there.
