Stroll Around London Bridge and Borough
10.45 next to Southwark Gateway Needle
North Southwark was one of the ingredients of Old London. The others, the City of London and Westminster, both enjoyed City status. Southwark was a poor relation, an undefined border zone beyond City walls and royal palace with no single power in control.
This walk will look at key sites including the famous bridge which arose in Roman times, Borough High Street, the historic church that became Southwark Cathedral (viewed from the outside), and the ancient, now-modernised Borough Market.
