Parent/Carer Training Evening: Speech & Language Support for Autistic Children & Young People

We’re delighted to welcome Charli Owen and Sam Walshe, Speech and Language Therapists from A & C Little Voices, for an informative and practical evening exploring how Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) can support autistic children and young people.

Speech and Language Therapists support much more than speech! Charli will talk about the different ways communication can be affected for autistic young people and how SALT can help with areas such as understanding and using language, social communication, expressing needs and emotions, processing information, interaction and communication differences. She’ll also share practical ideas and strategies that parents and carers can use to better understand and support their young person’s individual communication needs.

We would like to encourage parents and carers to send their questions in ahead of the event. This will give Charli the opportunity to look at the areas that matter most to our families and, where possible, build these into the session.

Whether your young person uses lots of spoken language, very little speech, or communicates in their own individual way, this session is designed to help parents and carers develop a greater understanding of communication and how we can support it.
