MyOTAS (My Own Time and Space) is a parent-led charity based in Wickford, Essex, dedicated to improving outcomes for neurodivergent children and young people, and their families. 

Founded in 2019, we create safe, accessible and inclusive informed spaces where individuals feel accepted, understood, and empowered. A defining characteristic of MyOTAS is that our entire team is comprised of parents of neurodivergent children. This unique structure means that every team member possesses direct, personal experience with the challenges and triumphs faced by neurodivergent families. This lived experience translates into an inherently empathetic and deeply understanding approach to service delivery. 

We are passionate about sharing our knowledge and supporting other families on their journey. We know that many neurodivergent families face barriers to education, social connection, and emotional wellbeing. Our work is rooted in lived experience and shaped by the voices of those we support. Through a compassionate, community-led approach, we offer practical help, emotional support, and opportunities for growth and connection.

MyOTAS are delighted to offer yoga classes with Yoga Therapist Louise Anderson at Shotgate Community Hall, Wickford SS11 8QZ. There is a car park at the rear of the hall and on street parking outside. Classes are limited to 8 young people plus a parent or carer. Joining in the sessions together can help you to both relax, bond and continue to practice the relaxation techniques together at home. These are very relaxed, low pressure sessions, tailored to the needs of young people who are particularly struggling with anxiety, emotional regulation and may be feeling isolated from their peers.&nbsp; There is no need to wear any fancy yoga gear, leggings/joggers and a comfortable baggy top are perfectly fine. Whatever feels good for you.&nbsp; Mindfulness techniques help us to regulate breathing patterns, balance energy levels, remain calm, as well as relieving physical and emotional tension and giving a greater sense of control over the mind and body.&nbsp; Within 24 hours of booking your sessions we will email you a health questionnaire. MyOTAS are delighted to be able to offer these gentle movement and relaxation sessions for parent carers&nbsp; Join us for a 1 hour fortnightly session for parent carers to ease, de-stress and unwind.&nbsp; We know that parenting a child with additional needs can be stressful and that it is hard to make time for yourself.&nbsp; Louise who will be leading the session, currently runs our successful mother and daughter yoga sessions.&nbsp;The gentle movement in the class will help to reset your parasympathetic nervous system which is important in a stressful world, and will leave you feeling calm.&nbsp; All equipment will be provided, just wear something comfortable. MyOTAS My Own Time And Space is a registered charity, based in South Essex, that provides activities for neurodivergent (autism, adhd, dyslexia, dyspraxia, OCD, Tourette's, sensory processing disorder, social anxiety, etc.) children and teens and support to their families.&nbsp; Children DO NOT need a diagnosis to access our activities - if you feel it is beneficial to their well-being and will help them make friends, then please bring them along.&nbsp;Please book a place for each child/young person attending. MyOTAS have joined forces with Tiffany Belford-Fry (Tiffers) of Woodland Warriors, to create sessions tailored to the needs of neurodivergent children and those with social anxiety issues. There is no pressure to join in activities and there are quiet areas available, should any child need a break from the session. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and is essentially free play, with activities the kids can choose from and options for sensory feedback using our hammocks, rope ladders and nest swing. There are new activities each week and there are always options to join in, or roam where their interest takes them. Each session ends with the toasting of marshmallows around the camp fire (weather permitting). MyOTAS is very grateful to the Essex Police's Violence &amp; Vulnerability Unit for the grant to run these Woodland Warrior activity sessions for&nbsp;FREE&nbsp;(until funding runs out at the end of March 2026). Thank you for booking this Calm Together - 4 week on-line course. Special Yoga will be in touch with you shortly to register you on to their online platform, where you can access the course and accompanying resources. ================================== Calm together is a gentle, heart-led 4-week programme created especially for parent carers of neurodivergent children and young people. The 4 dates are:- All Monday evenings23rd February2nd, 9th and 16th March From 8pm to 9pm. Developed by Special Yoga in partnership with MyOTAS, and funded by Basildon Council, this pilot programme offers a safe, supportive space to nourish yourself, connect with others and build sustainable practices to nurture your own wellbeing, while also supporting your family. No previous experience is required. Every session is fully guided and accessible. Just bring yourself as you are. MyOTAS My Own Time And Space is a registered charity, based in South Essex, that provides activities for neurodivergent (autism, adhd, dyslexia, dyspraxia, OCD, Tourette's, sensory processing disorder, social anxiety, etc.) children and teens and support to their families.&nbsp; Children DO NOT need a diagnosis to access our activities - if you feel it is beneficial to their well-being and will help them make friends, then please bring them along.&nbsp;Please book a place for each child/young person attending. There is no pressure to join in activities and there are quiet areas available, should any child need a break from the session. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and is essentially free play, with activities the kids can choose from and options for sensory feedback using our hammocks, rope ladders and nest swing. There are new activities each week and there are always options to join in, or roam where their interest takes them. Each session ends with the toasting of marshmallows around the camp fire (weather permitting). We’re delighted to introduce our Evening Parent &amp; Child Yoga Group - a gentle, supportive space where children aged 7–11 can come along with a parent or carer to explore movement, breathing and relaxation together. These sessions are designed to help families experience the potential calming and self-regulating effects of yoga in a low pressure, non-judgmental environment, where sharing time and learning alongside each other is at the heart of the experience. Whether you’re new to yoga or curious about mindful movement, our aim is to support you both to feel grounded, connected and relaxed — building confidence, regulation skills and calm together.&nbsp; Wear something comfortable and feel free to bring a blanket and drink. Join Emma and Gwen of Gweniems in their beautiful garden workshop to enjoy quiet, relaxing crafting sessions, where your child can create amazing things, chill out and make new friends.&nbsp; Workshops are weekly - We would suggest that Monday sessions are for ages 8-11 and Tuesday sessions are for 12-16 - but we are flexible on this, if your child would prefer to be with younger/older children, etc. Venue: Emma's house 'Rose Court', Russell Gardens, Wickford. We keep the sessions small, with a max of 6 children/teens, plus parent/carers. We will provide biscuits and water and tea, or coffee for adults.&nbsp; Please note - The accompanying Parent/Carer is asked to stay at the venue during the session. There is a lovely chill out area in the garden (under cover and with a patio heater) for parents to sit and chat, whilst the children/young people get to crafting in the workshop.&nbsp;Please note there isn't enough room for parents to sit in the workshop area too - please bring a coat if the weather is cold (although the patio heater and blankets are very good at keeping people warm). The cost for this session is £6.50 per child, which includes all the materials. We are able to offer the sessions at this reduced rate as the costs are subsidised by MyOTAS, through grants received from Essex County Council.

You do not need a diagnosis of anxiety or autism/adhd/dyslexia/dyspraxia etc. to attend this group.&nbsp;If you feel it will benefit your child/teen's mental health and help them to make friends, then please book them in. We keep the sessions small, with a max of 6 children/teens, plus parent/carers. We will provide biscuits and water and tea, or coffee for adults.&nbsp; Please note - The accompanying Parent/Carer is asked to stay at the venue during the session. There is a lovely chill out area in the garden (under cover and with a patio heater) for parents to sit and chat, whilst the children/young people get to crafting in the workshop.&nbsp;Please note there isn't enough room for parents to sit in the workshop area too - please bring a coat if the weather is chilly (although the patio heater and blankets are very good at keeping people warm). The cost for this session is £6.50 per child, which includes all the materials. We are able to offer the sessions at this reduced rate as the costs are subsidised by MyOTAS, through grants received from Essex County Council Locality Fund sponsored by Councillor Tony Ball

Join Emma and Gwen of Gweniems in their beautiful garden workshop to enjoy quiet, relaxing crafting sessions, where your child can create amazing things, chill out and make new friends.&nbsp; Workshops are weekly - We would suggest that Monday sessions are for ages 8-11 and Tuesday sessions are for 12-16 - but we are flexible on this, if your child would prefer to be with younger/older children, etc. Venue: Rose Court, Russell Gardens, Wickford. Come along to the hall at St Peter's Church (near Sainsburys off the A127 at Nevendon) to meet our Family Support Team. 7.30pm to 9.30pm - come and have a chat with the MyOTAS' team about neurodiversity (autism, adhd, dyslexia, dyspraxia, anxiety issues, OCD, PDA, Sensory Processing Disorder, etc.), including diagnostic process, support at school, benefits you may be entitled to claim, behaviour and mental health issues. All parents/carers/grandparents welcome, from anywhere in Essex, whether your child is at school or home ed. Feel free to bring a friend or family member. No diagnosis is required.
