Enfield Council & the Friends of Enfield Chase invite you to come and join in for the continuation of the Landscape Recovery project at Enfield Chase.
Come along and help London breathe for the future, take an active part in the restoration of our landscape, meet like minded people, experience the beautiful outdoors, see some rarer wildlife and speak with knowledgeable staff who can provide insight into the project and how you can get involved.
What are we doing?
The aim of the event is to work together to begin clearing self seeded tree’s and scrub using ‘tree poppers'.
Why are we removing tree’s?
We all know the multiple benefits trees bring to our landscape. However, it’s important to ensure tree’s which are retained or planted survive and flourish, and critically, won’t damage other equally important habitats and ecosystems. Self seeded tree’s are reducing the ecological value of the new woodlands whilst also having a negative impact on the wind resistance of the new woodland trees. We will be selectively thinning Goat willow using Tree Poppers to ensure the planted trees are not competing for light, space and nutrients, maximising their potential for growth, encouraging more biodiversity and natural regeneration.
What do I need to bring?
We will provide teas, coffees and biscuits to all our volunteers. Please bring water and something to eat for lunch (Botany bay farm shop is a great option for lunch). There is no toilet available on site. Please also dress suitably for the weather and bring sturdy boots/wellingtons!
An induction briefing and a health and safety talk will be given at the start of every event. Parking is available at the farm for the duration of the event. A staff member or a member of Enfield Council staff will direct you at the farm.
