Introduction to domestic abuse awareness training

Course aims

Participants will gain knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and be confident in recognising, responding, referring and recording.

• Definition of domestic abuse according to the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. 
• Types of domestic abuse.
• Dynamics of domestic abuse (power and control wheel and cycle of abuse).
• Intersectionalities.
• Key messages.
• Domestic abuse and risk.
• The 4 R’s; recognising, responding, referring and recording.
• City and Hackney Domestic abuse services.
• Domestic Abuse Intervention Service (DAIS).
• Feedback and Questions.
