The Newport Youth Academy (NYA) is one of the largest training providers in Newport, with over 10 years of experience helping young people move into jobs, apprenticeships, and further or higher education. Our goal is simple – we support you to get started in your chosen career and help you move forward by matching your skills with what employers are looking for.
We aim to give you the best possible training and qualifications through engaging, and inspiring activities. Everything we do is tailored to you, so you get the support you need to grow, build confidence, and achieve your goals.
Our Aims
Provide tailored support to help young people overcome barriers to employment or education
Develop essential skills needed for the workplace or further learning
Offer work experience placements to give real-world insight and build practical skills
Deliver career guidance including goal setting and future planning
Build confidence and self-esteem through mentoring and group activities
Support learners to gain relevant qualifications to improve employability
Provide transition support into employment, further education, or other programmes
Use a personalised approach, recognising each learner’s individual needs
Offer ongoing support to ensure sustained progress after placement
Provide sector-specific learning and qualifications aligned to career pathways
Deliver a vocationally focused curriculum, emphasising motivation and personal development over academic ability
Combine practical experience with classroom learning to upskill learners effectively
Enhance employability and desirability to employers through industry-relevant training
Newport Youth Academy’s work experience programme lets you put your learning into practice in a real job environment
