Young people who have experienced or witnessed crime need someone they can turn to - someone they trust. This training is designed to help the adults in their lives, whether that’s parents and carers, youth workers, or community leaders, feel confident and equipped to step into that role.
The training will teach you how to create safe, supportive spaces where young people feel heard and understood, whether or not they choose to report what’s happened to the police. You will learn how to guide young people through personal and community challenges, advocate for their rights, and facilitate their development into resilient, empowered and active members of society.
The training also recognises the impact this work can have on you. It offers guidance on recognising and managing vicarious trauma and helps you build practical skills to bring empathy and care into your everyday interactions with young people.
Join us in building a community where every young person knows they have a trusted adult by their side.
We’re so happy to be able to offer free training to our community members, but when people drop out last minute, it means we still have to cover the costs and someone else misses out on a valuable opportunity. To help with this, we ask for a small refundable deposit for trainings - just to make sure everyone who wants a place can get one!
