    Description

An innovative leadership and social value opportunity for Wirral

Wirral CVS and Wirral Chamber of Commerce are proud to bring together public, private and voluntary sector to strengthen leadership capability while delivering meaningful social value across the borough.

Becoming a charity trustee is more than a voluntary role. It is a chance to influence real change, apply strategic expertise, and gain valuable board-level experience that enhances personal and professional development for individuals, workforce development for businesses and organisations and create benefit for local communities.

For businesses, this will provide opportunities to develop your workforce, for individuals, this will provide real life, board level experience and a chance to utilise your skills and knowledge and support organisations that are delivering change for people that you are passionate about.

    Local Business will:

    ·      Support their staff development with real world experience that will directly impact the communities you serve

    ·      Benefit from the transferable skills staff will gain from their engagement

Strengthen ESG and social value objectives. Build meaningful connections with Wirral’s voluntary, community and charitable sector.

    • Position their organisation as an active contributor to local change.

    Local Professionals will:

Develop real world board-level (executive and non-executive) experience.

    • Develop confidence in governance and strategic decision-making.
    • Broaden both commercial and community insight.
    • Use their skills and expertise to create meaningful impact across the Wirral.

    The Programme

Participants are invited to join a professionally delivered series of six interactive workshops designed to demystify the trustee role and build the skills, experience and confidence needed to take on a board role.

In a supportive and engaging setting, participants will explore:

    • How boards operate and deliver public benefit.
    • Explore their own leadership strengths, and development areas.
    • The legal duties and responsibilities of trustees.
    • Real world boardroom scenarios including strategy, financial oversight, risk management and governance.
    • Discuss organisational culture, people, equity, equality and people with lived experience.

Through interactive discussion, group challenges and guided self-assessment, the session will provide valuable and practical insight for those considering a first trustee role, as well as experienced professionals looking to contribute their expertise in a new way.

Post workshop support will include help to identify and secure a trustee placement with a local charity.

The programme will commence on the 8th September 2026 and continue with the following dates: 15th, 22nd and 29th September and the 6th and 13th October.

Join us from 1pm for a 1:30 start time, and finish at 4 pm.
