We are hosting an introductory workshop on the Building Blocks of Health for partners working across Bassetlaw interested in community, and health & wellbeing. This session will provide partners with a foundational understanding of the Building Blocks of Health as a metaphor and explore how we make best use of it for our collaborative work across the district.
What are the Building Blocks of Health?
The Building Blocks of Health framework recognises that creating healthy communities requires a comprehensive foundation - much like constructing a sturdy building. This approach acknowledges that health inequalities exist because many communities lack essential "building blocks" that enable people to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
Currently, health disparities across the UK mean people in some areas are dying years earlier than they should. This happens when fundamental needs aren't met - when families can't afford to heat their homes, access nutritious food, or escape the chronic stress of financial insecurity.
