Vale of Leven Trust

At the Vale of Leven Trust, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives and wellbeing of residents in the Vale of Leven, which includes Alexandria, Tullichewan, Levenvale, Haldane, Jamestown, Dalmonach, Bonhill, and Balloch. Since attaining charity status in 2017, we have focused on community development by organizing various projects and activities that foster participation and engagement. Our initiatives aim to reduce social isolation, promote community involvement, and stimulate the local economy. We work closely with local businesses and residents to improve the physical environment and investigate ways to increase footfall in Alexandria’s town centre.

Through our events and activities, such as the Alexandria Community Market and the Active Travel Hub, we provide valuable opportunities for the community to come together, share experiences, and support one another. Our efforts are geared towards addressing the negative outcomes highlighted in the West Dunbartonshire SIMD reports, ultimately striving to create a more vibrant and connected community. By bringing people together and investing in local projects, we are making a tangible impact on the lives of those we serve, helping to build a stronger, more resilient Vale of Leven.

These are social rides led by our qualified cycle leaders with everything you need provided (bike, helmet, lights, and waterproof jacket). We use cycle paths and quiet roads as much as possible allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery. Booking required. A suggested donation of £2 for members and £3 for non-members per ride is payable in person. *If you are joining us for the first time, please come along about 11:45 to be sized up for an e-bike (if you require one) and to allow time for us to give you a quick orientation and trial of the e-bike before being ready to head out for 12:30.

A social walk around 1 hour at a relaxed pace, leaving from our Hub in Mitchell Way. These walks are a great way to get your steps in, explore your local area and meet new people.

Women’s Wellness Sessions When: Every week at 6:45pmWhere: Alexandria Masonic Hall£2/3Must be booked in advance Each session begins with the chance to meet new people and have a chat. We then move into an active fitness session where movement through high energy dancing aims to help boost mental health and wellbeing.The class runs for about an hour and includes, a set of choreographed routines, and a cool down. Each dance uses repeated movements, which helps beginners learn the steps quickly The structure is flexible you can take part at your own pace and move in a way that feels right for you. It’s all about getting moving, having fun, and feeling good together. Don't forget to wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. Come along and bring a friend.
