HF Mencap is dedicated to empowering children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, ensuring their voices are heard, and helping them reach their full potential while being included in their local community. Our organization seeks to promote the wellbeing and development of individuals with learning disabilities and autism, as well as support their families and carers. We provide a range of services, including parent/carer advocacy, youth development projects, day opportunities, short breaks, and various projects and campaigns. Through our efforts, we aim to support individuals with learning disabilities and autism in living as independently as possible, advocating for their rights, and providing opportunities for continued learning and development.

At HF Mencap, we are committed to providing support that ensures children and adults with learning disabilities and autism are accepted and included in the community, have their voices and needs heard by decision makers, and are supported to live as independently as possible. Our organization also focuses on empowering individuals to campaign for their rights, pursue their dreams, and live fulfilling lives. Through our various programs and initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we support, enabling them to make friends, form relationships, pursue employment, and live in their own homes. We are grateful for the support of our funders, as their contributions make our work possible and enable us to continue making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

Art Club, Weekly, during school term on Wednesday 4pm-5pm&nbsp;: Art serves as a powerful outlet for feelings and experiences, allowing young people to visually articulate their emotions and thoughts. Creating art can be therapeutic and meditative, reducing stress levels and promoting relaxation, which contributes positively to mental well-being. Exhibiting their work enhances self-esteem and encourages a sense of achievement.&nbsp;Dance Club, Weekly ,during school term on Wednesday 5pm-6pm :Led by a volunteer , this club allows attendees to co-produce the dance sessions, fostering creativity and collaboration. Dance not only promotes physical activity—known to release endorphins that improve mood—but also provides a safe space for self-expression through movement. Participants can channel their emotions via dance, which serves as an effective coping mechanism for managing stress and anxiety. The sense of community developed through shared dance experiences can also foster strong support networks.&nbsp;

Exciting Wellbeing Workshops for young people with Autism and/or a learning disability as well as mental health difficulties; aged 13- 25 years! Welcome to MENCAP Youth Drama Club. We are a fully inclusive drama club for people between 13 – 25 years old.We meet weekly during the school term on Thursday’s between 4.45pm and 6.45 pm. A typical session involves a physical warm up, a dance, games, some movement-based work, improvisation and story creating. All activities are adapted to fit the members of the group.We work towards putting on a show for an invited audience of family, friends and carers.We are currently working on an inclusive adaptation of the Blackfoot Native American Indian legend, “The Orphan Boy and The Elk Dog”, a fantastic story of an outcast boy’s journey to greatness as he seeks to find the mysterious spirit animal they call The Elk Dog.We look forward to welcoming you to the group.For further information contact:&nbsp;Jolita.Anupreviciute@hfmencap.org

The Youth Development Project is a tailor-made programme for young people aged 13–25 with a learning disability or autism who live or attend school or college in the Hammersmith and Fulham area. The project focuses on skills development and social inclusion.We offer half-term and holiday programmes where young people can have fun and socialise. Activities include cycling, bowling, arts, cooking, fitness sessions, nutrition education, and much more. Lunch is provided during holiday programmes.We also run themed events throughout the year, including Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and Easter. Please join us and have lots of fun this Easter Holiday!
