Learning to ride a bike is a fun life skill to learn - and when better to start than as a tot? Join our friendly balance bike group and introduce your wee one to the fun of bikes! It's a fabulous place to chat with other parents/carers and build community and connection. We'll provide balance bikes and helmets but please bring your own if you have them. Women on Wheels (SCIO) is a Glasgow based community cycling hub for women, girls and non-binary people. A service designed and led by women, we deliver a range of cycling activities to get women, girls and non-binary people back on a bike or onto a bike for the very first time.

Join us for an evening introducing you to Mountain Biking in Pollok Park. This is the perfect opportunity for those wanting to try MTBing. Led by a qualified and experienced mountain bike coach, you'll learn the basic skills and techniques needed to ride some simple trails in Pollok Park.You'll meet at the WoW hub and cycle to Pollok Park together, do some drills and skills, ride some basic trails and ride back to the Hub togetherMountain Bikes and helmets will be provided. This tour is an introduction to off road cycling for anyone that is interested in doing more gravel/off road cycles but doesn't know where to start. Please note that this is an introduction and only involves 30% of off road riding and this is not technical riding so no experience is necessary but you do need a reasonable level of fitness and good bike handling skills. You must also be confident cycling on roads as 70 % of the route is on quiet roads, a short section on a busier road and cycle paths. This is also an opportunity to try sleeping in a bothy for the first time. We have single use of the bothy and it has a kitchen, sleeping platform and toilet so is a nice introduction to bothy life. We can provide mountain bikes for the trip or if you have your own gravel, thick wheeled tourer you will also be OK. We can provide sleeping bags and other sleeping equipment so please don't let this be a barrier for you. Please phone and ask more questions if you are interested and want to know more. Rough Plan: Saturday 5th September- Meet at Queen Street Station at 8am to get train to Stow (Just over 2 hours away). We're excited to launch our new Kids Learn to Cycle Lessons! These sessions are specially designed for&nbsp;girls and non-binary children aged 5 -12&nbsp;who want to learn to ride a bike or build their confidence cycling. Just like our supportive adult lessons, these classes are friendly, patient, and totally judgement-free. Our experienced instructors will guide them step-by-step in a safe, encouraging environment. You can borrow a bike and helmet from our hub, or bring your own. Parents can either come with the group during the lesson or pop out for some me-time for the hour and then come back to pick your child up. Join us for a 3 week cycling block to improve your cycling skills and confidence on a bike. This block is suitable for women and non binary people 16+ that can ride a bike but are a bit wobbly, low in confidence or want to improve specific cycling skills. The block will be tailored towards individual needs and will be a fun, safe and supportive environment. Bikes and equipment will be provided or bring your own bike. This is a rough idea of what will be taught in the block;Week 1 - Off road cycle skills in nearby park (Getting on and off the bike safely, signalling, turning, braking, gears and looking over your shoulder whilst cycling )Week 2 - Cycling skills in practice - using quiet residential streets we will practice gears, signalling, cycling with others and where to cycle on the roadsWeek 3 - Cycling skills in practice - Using quiet roads we will progress previously learnt skills and look at rules of the road and how to cycle on very quiet roads/in low trafficThere is a gap between the week 2 and week 3 sessions due to September weekend. Join us for a confidence building cycle skills session. This is suited for those that have progressed from our Learn to ride sessions, can cycle a bike but have not been on a bike for a while or those who want to improve specific cycling skills and confidence in a safe and supportive environment. These sessions will take place at a local park, on quiet resediential streets and some quiet roads. These sessions will cover skills such as signalling, looking behind you whilst cycling, turning, gears, where to cycle on the road, cycling with others/in a group and other cycling skills. Intro to Bike Maintenance - Emergency Roadside Repair

Join us for a day of mountain biking (MTB) at LifeCycle in Balfron. Suitable for women who have never been MTB or improvers but you must be able to ride a bike competently. The session will include coaching, chance to practice skills and a ride through the beautiful trails. Bikes &amp; helmets provided.&nbsp; 1-hour travel each way, 4 hours of MTB-ing and 30 mins for lunch. Transport is not included but we will set up a WhatsApp group the week before the session to organise lift shares so we can take as little cars as possible. ﻿Please wear clothes you are happy to get dirty and clothing suitable for the weather (Waterproofs, warm layers, gloves). Thanks for booking on to our Intermediate Bike Maintenance Course. Please come to Women on Wheels Hub 5 minutes before the session starts. Please wear clothes that you are happy to get dirty. There is no need to bring your bike as we will be working on Women on Wheels Bikes. Tea/Coffee/Biscuits will be provided however if you wish to bring your own dinner/snacks then please do however please note this is a NUT free area due to severe allergies. We hope you enjoy the course!

The&nbsp;intermediate&nbsp;bike maintenance course&nbsp;will be a 4 week&nbsp;course, led by Mhairi,&nbsp;covering how to strip and build a&nbsp;bike&nbsp;and will be a step up from the things you have already learnt at the basic&nbsp;bike maintenance&nbsp;sessions. You will be working on one of our bikes throughout the course.&nbsp; The course is&nbsp;at the&nbsp;WoW Hub and runs every Sunday for 4 weeks. You must be able to attend all 4 sessions. To take part in the&nbsp;course&nbsp;you must have attended or plan to attend most of our basic&nbsp;bike maintenance&nbsp;sessions (at least the Gears class!) or have knowledge that meets this level.&nbsp;If you are unsure then please contact us to talk through your experience level. If you can no longer make your place then you must give us 2 weeks notice so we can fill the space. Please note that you WILL NOT be refunded unless you give 2 weeks notice.
